Return Policy

Returns of firearms and ammunition are not accepted unless required by federal or state law; non-firearm items (accessories, optics, parts) may be returned within 14 days in unused condition with original packaging and a receipt for a store credit or exchange. All returns require prior approval by appointment—contact us to initiate a return.

Sheepdog Arms, LLC — Return & Refund Policy

Scope

  • This policy applies to merchandise sales made by Sheepdog Arms, LLC (Victor, NY). Sales are by appointment only.

  • Firearms, ammunition, and certain accessories are subject to federal, state, and local laws and may have additional restrictions; some items are non-returnable as specified below.

General Return Eligibility

  • Returns accepted within 7 days of customer receipt for most non-firearm, non-ammunition items, provided the item:

    • Is in unused, unaltered, and resalable condition.

    • Includes original packaging, tags, manuals, and all supplied accessories.

    • Is accompanied by the original sales receipt or order confirmation.

  • Firearms: All firearm sales are final unless otherwise required by law or agreed in writing prior to sale. Firearms may not be returned for refund; exchanges or repairs may be considered at our discretion and only after prior approval.

  • Ammunition: Ammunition sales are final and cannot be returned.

  • Custom, engraved, special-order, or modified items are final sale and not eligible for return unless defective.

Condition, Inspection & Restocking

  • Returned items are subject to inspection upon receipt. If an item is returned damaged, used, or missing parts, we reserve the right to refuse the return or charge a restocking fee.

  • Restocking fees up to 20% may apply for returns that are not due to our error, depending on condition and packaging.

Return Process

  • Contact Sheepdog Arms, LLC within 7 days of receipt to request a return authorization. Provide your order number, item(s) to return, reason for return, and photos if the item is damaged or defective.

  • Returns without prior authorization will not be accepted.

  • Authorized returns must be sent prepaid by customer unless otherwise instructed. We recommend using a tracked, insured shipping method; we are not responsible for items lost in transit during return.

  • Include the return authorization number and original receipt in the package.

Refunds

  • Once a return is received and inspected, we will notify you by email or phone of approval or rejection.

  • Approved refunds will be issued to the original payment method within 10 business days of approval. Time for funds to appear will depend on your bank or card issuer.

  • Shipping, transfer, FFL fees, and background check fees are non-refundable (unless the return is due to our error). Any applicable restocking fee will be deducted from the refund.

Exchanges

  • Exchanges for the same item (if available) may be handled as a return and re-purchase. Contact us to confirm availability before returning the original item.

Defective or Damaged Items

  • If an item arrives defective, damaged, or incorrect, contact us immediately. We will provide a return authorization and arrange for repair, replacement, or refund at our discretion. In such cases, we will cover return shipping costs.

Compliance & Firearm Transfers

  • All firearm purchases require compliance with federal, state, and local transfer laws, including required background checks and holding periods. Returning a firearm that has already transferred to a buyer may be restricted by law; contact us for guidance.

  • Buyers are responsible for compliance with their local jurisdiction’s laws regarding possession, transportation, and return of firearms and ammunition.

Cancellations

  • Orders may be canceled prior to transfer/pickup and prior to any federally required background check completion. Once a firearm transfer is completed and the firearm leaves our possession in compliance with law, cancellation and return are not permitted.

Privacy & Records

  • We will retain required records of firearm and ammunition transactions as mandated by law. Personal information provided for returns will be handled in accordance with our privacy policies and applicable law.

Policy Changes

  • Sheepdog Arms, LLC reserves the right to modify this return policy at any time. The policy in effect at the time of sale governs that sale.
